Vauxhall tribes is a competition for beatboxing, mcing, street art and breakdancing. One of the stages of the competition will be held in Brighton on saturday 04/08/07 between 1pm - 4pm at Concorde 2.

L.E.D Throwies

Not really related to graffiti and some may say anti social but here’s another insallment of futuristictness from Graffiti research lab.

Developed by the Graffiti Research Lab a division of the Eyebeam R&D OpenLab, LED Throwies are an inexpensive way to add color to any ferromagnetic surface in your neighborhood. A Throwie consists of a lithium battery, a 10mm diffused LED and a rare-earth magnet taped together. Throw it up high and in quantity to impress your friends and city officials.

3D graffiti with light!

Using LED glowsticks, flashlights, even fireworks, combined with time-lapse photography, Light graffiti artists create a unique tagging that wraps around objects dimensionally, allowing them to tag in a way they’d never be able to with spraypaint. Very cool!

Local Artists Encouraged To Stamp Out Illegal Graffiti 21 May 2007
Local artists in Sussex are being given the chance to win £1000 prize money by designing a series of murals that will revitalise the entrance to Meeting House Lane in Brighton’s city centre.

Graffiti Or Art? Brighton’s Dilemma
The recently formed Brighton BID (Business Improvement District) is working with the Business Forum to rescue the vandalised site and protect the area – a graffiti hot spot - from further damage.

Artists are invited to submit ten miniature colour sketches with a brief written outline of their idea.

Brighton-based company RareKind, a collective of innovative professional artists specialising in the urban art scene, will be on-hand to manage the artists and support them in executing the work.

The project is sponsored by Southern Water who will provide the prize money to the winning artist or artists.

The closing date for the competition is Friday 15 June. Artists can enter individually or as a team and must be aged 14 and over. The paints for the murals will be provided by the Brighton & Hove Business Forum and materials will be durable and environmentally friendly.

This website has been made to serve as a gallery for the new graffiti art work which has recently been commissioned by the Brighton council and local graffiti artists to uplift the image of their work in Brighton. There is also graffiti from other areas of Brighton such as the marina where there is a lot of graffiti work. There are a number of areas in Brighton with new graffiti, here are a few:

New England Street Graf Jam.
Kensington Street, North Lane.
Middle Street, the South Lanes. Side of Urb shop.
Prestonville Road, Seven Dials. Age Concern HQ.
St George’s Mews. Hairdressers.
The Level Park. Next to the toilets.
There have been such graffiti artists as Seen, Banksy and many many more.

To give you an idea of the scale of some of the graffiti pieces, The ‘Wall Art’ Project was a collaboration between Age Concern and local graffiti artists Paul Barlow and Alex Young. To enable the whole wall to be decorated a 16m vehicle mounted platform was used.
